Strategic Workforce Management in Healthcare for Digital Solutions and Global Collaboration in SDG 3

The healthcare sector faces significant challenges in managing a resilient and effective workforce, particularly in the context of the evolving demands for sustainable development and global health goals. This study examines the intersection of Strategic Workforce Management (SWM) and Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3), which focuses on promoting well-being for all. The primary objective is to explore how SWM strategies can enhance healthcare systems through digital solutions and global collaboration. A bibliometric analysis was conducted, analyzing 148 relevant studies published in the Scopus database between 2016 and 2024, using VOSviewer to map trends, key contributors, and thematic developments in the field. The analysis reveals a marked increase in publications post-2020, driven by pandemic-related challenges, with a growing emphasis on digital health solutions and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to address workforce planning and healthcare delivery. The results highlight leading countries such as the U.S. and Australia, alongside influential institutions like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, as central to advancing SWM and its alignment with SDG 3. The findings suggest that integrating digital solutions in workforce management is crucial for building adaptive, resilient healthcare systems. This study provides valuable insights for healthcare managers and policymakers, emphasizing the need for data-driven strategies and international collaboration to address global healthcare challenges and meet SDG 3 objectives effectively.
