Evaluating the Acceptance of Diabetes Monitoring Applications in the Philippines: A TAM2 Model Approach

This study evaluates the acceptance of diabetes monitoring applications among Filipinos diagnosed with Type II diabetes mellitus using the TAM2 model, which assesses technological acceptance, such as users’ intention to use, usage behavior, perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use. A survey with 24 statements was conducted among 100 participants aged 40 to 70 years old who evaluated diabetes monitoring applications such as mySugr, Glucose Buddy, Health2Sync, and Diabetes: M through a 7-point Likert scale. The data gathered was analyzed and interpreted using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Model. Results revealed that the perceived ease of use, subjective norm, job relevance, output quality, and result demonstrability promoted the perceived usefulness of the applications, leading to the perceived usefulness promoting the behavioral intention for users to use the applications. However, perceived ease of use itself negatively affected the behavioral intention, and the image negatively affected the perceived usefulness of the users.
