CBPF-FLL-Based Operational Coordination of SPV, BESS, and Wind-Driven SEIG Hybrid Systems for Distributed Generation

For distributed generation (DG) system, the integration of several renewable energy sources (RESs), including wind-driven self-excited induction generators (SEIG), solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, and battery energy storage systems (BESS), necessitates strong control mechanisms to ensure continuous operation. This paper presents a complex band-pass filter (CBPF) - based frequency locked loop (FLL) control algorithm which generates the switching signals for voltage source converter (VSC), it has various purposes including lowering undesirable harmonics, providing real/reactive power compensation, balancing loads and improving the hybrid DG system’s power quality. The proposed algorithm is evaluated in a linear/non-linear load comprising solar PV, BESS, and wind-driven SEIG hybrid DG system. The results of the simulation show how well the CBPF-FLL maintains the frequency synchronization of the renewable hybrid DG system.
