Smart Gas Leakage Detector with Auto Cut-Off Regulator using IoT

Leaks of gas are among the most threatening and life-risking risks in residential, business, and industrial settings. Now that Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is used so widely within homes and businesses, having a dependable and instantaneous means for detecting gas leaks is imperative to avoid tragedies like fires, explosions, and health issues resulting from poisoned gas exposure. Conventional gas detection systems are usually confined to local alarms and need manual intervention, which might not always be timely or efficient. To address these constraints, this project introduces a Smart Gas Leakage Detector with Auto Cut-Off Regulator using IoT an intelligent, responsive, and user-friendly system that can increase safety through automation and remote monitoring. The proposed system is centered on the MQ-2 gas sensor, which permanently records air quality with respect to harmful gases. If gas levels reach a predetermined level, the sensor notifies the ESP-32 microcontroller, which initiates several safety measures. These involve automatically turning off the gas supply through a servo motor-driven regulator, activating a buzzer and exhaust fan to act quickly locally, and activating real-time notifications to the user's mobile phone through the Blynk IoT platform. This gives the user confidence to take action even while being physically away from the location. The system also includes a reset feature that can be reactivated only when gas levels are back to safe levels. Through the integration of gas sensing, automation, and cloud communication, the system provides a cost-efficient and scalable safety solution. The project is part of the expanding smart home technology and demonstrates a real-world application of IoT in life-saving situations.
