A Routing Protocol Based on Stable Links for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) consist of a set of mobile nodes that form a dynamically changing network without the use of an existing infrastructure. Therefore, based on Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector routing (AODV), Stable Link -based routing protocol is proposed in this paper, which is marked as LSR. For LSR implementation at first the routing process and deficiency of AODV are analyzed, and the energy-lifetime and link-lifetime of node are computed. And then Candidate forwarding node set is constructed by comparing energy-lifetime with link-lifetime. Finally, next-hop forwarding node is selected for the stability of the link. The simulation results show that the proposed routing protocol reduces routing overhead and improves throughput. Compared with AODV, routing overhead of LSR is reduced by 50%, and throughput is improved by 23%.
