Design and Simulation of An Efficient LDPC Encoder Suitable for 5G New Radio Base Graph 1

This paper presents an encoder for 5G New Radio (NR)'s physical channel encoding which uses Quasi-Cyclic, Low-density parity check codes (QC-LDPC). The encoder utilizes a forward substitution algorithm within a configurable circuit structure, allowing it to adapt dynamically to various base graphs associated with 5G-LDPC codes. A key innovation is the storage of only quantized permutation values for each submatrix of the parity check matrix, rather than the entire parity check matrix, significantly reducing memory requirements. The encoder in this paper gives a throughput of up to 32.36 Mbps for a scaling factor of Z=192 at the frequency of 50Mhz.
