Development of Liquid Cooling Solutions for Thermal Management Systems

Photovoltaic (PV) systems are a crucial component in the global shift toward renewable energy. However, their performance significantly decreases with the rise in operating temperature, leading to reduced efficiency and shortened lifespan. Effective thermal management is thus vital to maximize energy output and maintain long-term reliability. This project proposes the design and development of advanced liquid cooling systems specifically tailored for PV modules. By integrating a liquid-based thermal regulation mechanism, such as water or nanofluid coolant channels beneath or behind the PV panel surface, heat can be effectively dissipated. This cooling method not only stabilizes PV cell temperatures but also enables hybrid energy systems like photovoltaic thermal (PVT) collectors. The study investigates materials, fluid dynamics, and cooling configurations through simulation and experimental validation to optimize performance, cost-efficiency, and sustainability of the proposed system.
