Blockchain Adoption for Enhancing Accounting Data Efficiency and Workflow in Indonesia

The adoption of blockchain technology has emerged as a transformative innovation in accounting, offering the potential to enhance data efficiency, accuracy, and transparency. This study aims to investigate the applicability of blockchain in improving accounting data management and workflow processes within the Indonesian context. Focusing on the perceptions and readiness of accounting professionals, the research identifies key factors influencing adoption and the primary challenges impeding implementation. A quantitative approach was employed through a structured online survey distributed to 14 accounting professionals across Indonesia, utilizing a 5-point Likert scale to capture attitudes and insights. The findings indicate a strong awareness of blockchain’s benefits, particularly in enhancing data security and ensuring transparent transaction records. However, respondents reported several barriers to adoption, including limited technical expertise, insufficient technological infrastructure, and regulatory ambiguities. Despite these challenges, there remains significant optimism regarding blockchain’s role in modernizing accounting practices. The study concludes that while blockchain holds considerable promise for improving the efficiency and reliability of accounting workflows in Indonesia, its successful adoption requires coordinated efforts in capacity building, infrastructure development, and the establishment of clear regulatory frameworks. These findings contribute to the broader discourse on digital transformation in accounting and highlight actionable pathways for stakeholders aiming to integrate blockchain into professional practice.
