Design of a stacked antenna using different 3D printed substrates for ISM band applications

A stacked microstrip patch antenna (SMPA) has been designed and fabricated using two different 3D printed substrates- Polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG) and Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) for operation within the frequency range of the ISM band. The proposed SMPA’s 3D electromagnetic simulation model is formed utilizing CST simulation software. The antenna's simulated gain is around 5.91 dB when operating at 2.45 GHz, across a bandwidth of 53.59 MHz and displays a nearly unidirectional radiation pattern. Then, a prototype of suggested antenna structure has been manufactured utilizing 3D printing technology. The prototype antenna's experimental outcomes were also matched to the CST simulation results. The results of the comparison show that the suggested antenna design outperforms those found in the literature in terms of performance. According to literature survey, it is evident that this is the first effort to utilize different 3D printed substrates for stacked antenna design.
