Using A-UMUX to Measure Perceived Usability of the Student Information System (SIS) at Arab Open University

By enabling remote access and management for academic services, Student Information Systems (SIS) are playing a pivotal role in modern higher education. The overall user experience (UX) and usability of these systems have a significant impact on their effectiveness. This study evaluates the perceived usability of the SIS at Arab Open University using the Arabic Usability Metric for User Experience (A-UMUX), an adapted version of the widely recognized UMUX scale. The A-UMUX complies with ISO standards for effectiveness, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Data were collected using online questionnaires distributed to SIS users, ensuring statistical validity through a sufficiently large sample size. The results revealed positive user perception, with an overall A-UMUX score of 75.37, strong efficiency (78.4), good satisfaction (74.69), and moderately positive effectiveness (69.72). Findings revealed that there are still some usability problems even though the SIS encourages timely task completion and creates positive user impressions. In order to support a more seamless and fulfilling user experience, the study concludes with practical suggestions for improving SIS usability by strengthening its essential UX components.
