FAHP-Based Analysis of Early Dropout Factors among Returning Students

Student attrition in higher education institutions presents a significant challenge affecting both students and colleges. In order to better understand the factors influencing early dropout, data were derived from returnee students at Cebu Technological University-Main Campus. This study employs the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) to identify and rank the factors contributing to early dropout. Four factors that were identified to have influenced this according to previous studies include academic, financial, psychological, and social. Through data collected via Google Forms and analyzed using Microsoft Excel, this study investigates the complex interplay among these factors to student retention. The findings from the analysis show that financial constraints, academic workload, and psychological stress are primary contributors to dropout, with specific challenges varying across colleges within Cebu Technological University-Main Campus. These insights highlight the importance of tailored interventions and support systems to address dropout rates and improve educational experience for college students.
