The Effect of Video Bitrate Selection on Viewpoint Change in Multi-View Video and Audio Transmission QoE over MPEG-DASH

This paper focuses on the impact of viewpoint switching on QoE in multi-view video and audio transmission using MPEG-DASH. We introduce four strategies of video bitrate selection on requesting viewpoint change. They switch to the bitrate based on current viewpoint to maintain the video quality or the lowest bitrate to mitigate the impact of the network. For each strategy, we assume the all-viewpoints simultaneous transmission method and the selected single-viewpoint transmission method. We experiment with the network emulator to restrict network bandwidth. We show that the tradeoff between the video image quality and viewpoint change response according to the available bandwidth is important to QoE enhancement.
