LTE-Based 5G Broadcast SDR Testbed for DTTB networks

The delivery of multimedia content is undergoing a paradigm shift. This is due to the changes in traditional consumption habits, which have practically shifted to a total hegemony of mobile devices. In this sense, LTE-based 5G Broadcast, commonly known as 5G Broadcast, is a mobile communications standard that aims to allow linear broadcast content to reach users with fixed receivers as well as mobile or portable devices, alleviating the huge demand for network resources required by mobile network operators for multimedia data. In addition, this DTTB transmission can be used to distribute emergency and public safety information on a large scale in a resilient manner. For this reason, it was planned to deploy a SDR 5G Broadcast pilot trial over digital terrestrial television network of the Generalitat Valenciana as a testbed oriented towards developments based on SDR technique or based on SDR platform.
