Field trial of UAV under 2.1G band for 5G connection : After the antenna modification of air-ground integration

Drones have become a focus of attention in various sectors such as emergency response, agriculture, and package delivery, etc. This paper focuses on the network test phase of deploying a 2.1G band FDD 5G network to control UAVs, by modification of the antenna to realize to-air and to-ground beams. We designed a field trial to verify the performance of the low-altitude base station network, and analyzed the test results. The test results show that the design of the to-air and to-ground integrated antenna beams solve the problem of tower top coverage and airspace coverage, and the airspace coverage ability of each test point is balanced. Moreover, the interferences between the ordinary base stations and the low-altitude UAV users are proven to be controllable.
