Redcap-based Integrated Access and Backhaul Scheme in the Hybrid Network with MBSs and Aps

With the development of new technologies such as artificial intelligence(AI) and low-altitude economy, new applications such as virtual reality(VR) and interactive games need higher data rate demand. Network densification through deploying abundant access points(APs) becomes the focus of real network deployment. However, the real network mainly uses wire backhaul via optical fiber or copper through IP radio access network(IPRAN) or passive optical network(PON). Thus, the limited transmission resources limit a great deal of macro base stations(MBSs) and APs deployment and spend high cost for transmission resources. Meanwhile, new applications and more and more APs deployment in real network consume higher power and reduce network performance. Reduced Capability(RedCap), acting as a newly lightweight 5G technology with low cost, low power consumption, large capacity, is launched by 3GPP R17. Therefore, in order to reduce transmission resource cost and network power consumption, this paper introduces RedCap and proposes a Redcap-based Integrated Access and Backhaul(IAB) scheme in heterogeneous networks with MBSs and APs. In the hybrid networking scenario with MBSs and APs, the RedCap module is installed in all APs, and the terminal user equipment (UE) data transmits to APs. Then the AP transmits both its own data and the UEs data to nearby MBSs via RedCap module wirelessly to reduce transmission cost. And the core network receives backhaul data from MBS. Based on the scheme, this paper sets up the test environment to test and simulate, and proves the good performance of the scheme.
