Low-Power Wake-Up Signal Design and Associated Concerns in 5G Communication System

This article provides an overview of the Low-Power Wake-Up Signal (LP-WUS) design in 3GPP Release 19. The study reviews standardization progress and explores waveform design options with a focus on spectral characteristics and receiver detection strategies. The role of Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) shift is analyzed in detail. Simulation results show that, when overlaid OFDM is employed for On-Off Keying (OOK) waveform construction, the presence or absence of DFT shift has negligible impact on receiver performance, provided that the receiver applies appropriate alignment.
