A Wireless Charging System for Vehicle-to-Vehicle Constant Voltage and Constant Current Based on Frequency Conversion

Currently, countries are vigorously promoting the development of electric vehicles, so the battery life of electric vehicles has attracted much attention. In this paper, a low-cost Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) wireless charging emergency scheme is proposed, which is used when the electric vehicle is low in power and there is no charging station nearby. One electric vehicle can be used as a mobile charger for another vehicle in the proposed V2V system, and it is strongly coupled with the original coil on the vehicle through a relay coil without compensation capacitor, to realize the transmission of electric energy from one electric vehicle to another through the relay coil. A mathematical model for a strongly coupled V2V system has been developed, enabling the realization of constant voltage (CV) and constant current (CC) charging curves for lithium batteries in electric vehicles through frequency conversion adjustment. A set of simulation model is built, and the simulation results show that the highest transmission efficiency of the proposed strong coupling V2V system is 95%, which has the characteristics of high efficiency and low cost.
