Experimental Investigation on Electrostatic Spark Resistance and Discharge Energy

In order to achieve spark energy regulation in the electrostatic sensitivity testing of energy-containing materials and explore the factors affecting the characteristics of electrostatic sparks, an electrostatic spark discharging system was established and the spark energy under different discharge conditions was measured by changing the circuit parameters. The results show that discharge waveform and the spark energy are sensitive to damping resistance, energy storage capacitor, and applied voltage. Moreover, the dynamic spark resistance shows a trend of exponentially decline and exhibits discernible differences in various testing conditions. These experiments are helpful to deepen the understanding of the discharge process as well as the energy conversion mechanism in electrostatic spark testing system.
