Numerical Simulation of AVO Characteristics of Deepwater Turbidite Sandstone

For deep water turbidite sandstone reservoir, single layer and thin interbed geological models are constructed based on well petrophysical analysis, reflection coefficient of sand body top is calculated by accurate Zoeppritz equation, and the influence of porosity, shale content, thickness and water saturation on AVO characteristics is systematically studied. The results show that: (1) the AVO characteristics at the top of sand body are always the fourth type; (2) the tuning effect is significant when the sand body thickness is less than 26 m, and the amplitude decreases with the increase of incident angle; (3) the increase of porosity leads to the decrease of reflection coefficient amplitude, and the square amplitude difference can effectively distinguish the porosity difference. This study provides theoretical support for thin reservoir AVO inversion and fluid detection.
