An Improved Droop Control for the Frequency Recovery and Economic Dispatch in Islanded Microgrids

This paper presents an enhanced droop control scheme for islanded microgrids, aiming for rapid frequency restoration and cost - effective active power generation. Drawing on cooperative control techniques, the scheme uses local data for secondary control, eliminating the need for a microgrid central controller (MGCC). It maintains active power sharing among DGs while enabling fast frequency recovery. Also, it minimizes the total active power generation cost of DGs without a distribution management system (DMS). The extensive experimental are designed to validate the proposed control scheme. The simulation results verify the robust performance under asynchronous operation and intermittent DGs.
