Design and Implementation of a High-Throughput Research Platform for Advanced Lithium Battery Materials

Conventional battery material screening methods suffer from prolonged cycles and high costs, failing to meet the demands of large-scale material discovery. To address this challenge, a high-throughput research platform for lithium battery materials was developed and applied to optimize polymer electrolyte formulations through combinatorial screening of polymers, lithium salts, and solvents. Systematic solubility evaluation revealed polyacrylonitrile (PAN) as the least soluble polymer (2/28 solvents) and lithium stearate as the most insoluble salt (4/28 solvents) among the tested materials. While polymer solubility exhibited significant temperature dependence but minimal solvent volume effects, five high-performance solvent formulations (DMF, DMF/acetonitrile, DMF/cyclohexane, DMF/tetrahydrofuran, and n-butanol/acetic acid) were identified with superior dissolution capacity for five solutes. This integrated platform significantly accelerates electrolyte development by enabling simultaneous multi-parameter optimization, establishing an efficient paradigm for next-generation battery material discovery.
