Near-Field Holographic MIMO with Non-Paraxial Deployment in the Presence of Jamming

Holographic multiple-input multiple-output (H-MIMO) is emerging as a promising technology for next-generation wireless networks due to its significant potential to enhance the performance of communication systems by making use of a limited quasi-continuous array aperture with a desired current distribution to generate controlled spatial electromagnetic waves for information transmission. In contrast, jamming and unwanted electromagnetic interference have long been significant concerns, particularly when assessing security vulnerabilities in wireless technologies. In this paper, we analyze the performance of HMIMO systems in the presence of jamming by considering the non-paraxial deployment of HMIMO surfaces with multiple polarization. First, we develop a realistic electromagnetic channel model for non-paraxial holographic surfaces. Then, we derive an analytical expression for the achievable rate of the system, facilitating deeper performance analysis. Simulation results demonstrate that jamming with dual-polarized array and big enough aperture leads to significant performance degradation in HMIMO systems.
