Thermal Deformation Analysis of CanSat Frame Materials Under High-Temperature Environment Conditions

Thermal analysis is critical to ensuring the structural integrity and functional reliability of Can-sized satellite (CanSat) frames during scientific missions conducted in extreme thermal environments. This study employs Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations and controlled thermal chamber experiments to assess the thermal response and deformation behavior of several candidate materials, including polycarbonate, composite materials, and ABS plastic. The results of the thermal testing revealed significant differences in how each material reacted to the extreme temperatures. Polycarbonate showed minimal deformation and thermal stress, making it a strong contender for the frame material. Composite materials also performed well, but plastic ABS exhibited signs of weakness under the harsh conditions. Based on these findings, we recommend using polycarbonate for the frame of the Cansat to ensure its durability and success in space. Further testing and analysis will be conducted to confirm this optimal material choice before the final design is implemented. These findings highlight the importance of material selection in CanSat frame design and support polycarbonate as the optimal choice for maintaining performance and durability in space.
