A Cascade High-power Pulse Power Supply System

To satisfy the special power demand of high-power pulsed semiconductor laser, a cascade high-power pulse power supply system (PPSS) is proposed and developed. The front stage of the PPSS is a high-power battery pack, including a high-voltage lithium-ion battery, an isolated charger, a battery management unit, a discharge switch, etc. The latter stage is a multi-channel pulse driving source, which includes pulse generation units, trigger control units and synchronization control unit. The experimental result shows that the developed PPSS could work continuously at 300 Hz repetition frequency with the pulse width of 600 μs, the peak power reaches 588 kW, and the synchronization accuracy of multi-channel output is less than 1 μs, which meets the power demand of the semiconductor laser.
