An Improved Power Allocation Algorithm For Dual-Band Base Station With Maximum Down-link Capacity

In this paper, an improved power allocating scheme applied for dual-band base stations is proposed based on the water-filling algorithm, aiming at maximum the total capacity of base station with constrained power. Firstly, the maximizing capacity is given through the Shannon Formula. Then, after several parameter simplifications, a computable model is gained, which is a convex optimization problem with limitations. With the aid of the Lagrange algorithm, this problem can get its result. To verify our scheme, a dual-band base station applied to this algorithm is examined. According to the tested results, the downlink capacity has a maximum of 14% improvement, compared with traditional dual-band base stations with fixed power allocation between two bands. The measured results validate our proposed power allocation strategy.
