Energy Harvesting Circuit Design for Simultaneous Harmonic and DC Generation

This paper introduces a novel diode-based circuit for simultaneous harmonic and direct current (DC) generation, with enhanced energy conversion efficiencies at a low input power level. The design employs two impedance-matching bandpass filters (BPFs) to efficiently guide the input of fundamental frequency (FF) energy and the output of second-harmonic (SH) energy. This approach not only improves energy conversion but also enables the development of compact harmonic transponders with DC power supply capabilities. The circuit was simulated at an FF of 900 MHz. Simulation results show that with an input FF power of -10 dBm, the FF-SH conversion efficiency reaches 12.12% and the rectification efficiency to 50.29%, achieving a total energy utilization efficiency of 62.41%. These results demonstrate superior performance compared to existing solutions, offering a compact and highly efficient approach for energy harvesting in low-power, battery-free communication applications.
