Research on Current Ringing in Dual Active Bridge Converters

With the wide application of wide bandgap devices and the rapid development of high frequency magnetic components, the current ringing problem caused by high dv/dt and stray capacitance has become increasingly prominent. Current ringing will increase losses and cause electromagnetic interference problems. In this paper, the existing high frequency models of transformer and inductor are used to derive the low-voltage side impedance model of the DAB (dual active bridge) converter when the inductor is placed on the low-voltage side and the high-voltage side respectively. It is concluded that the impedance is larger when the inductor is placed on the low-voltage side, which is beneficial to reduce the current ringing. Finally, this paper verifies this conclusion through PSIM simulation.
