Research on the Real-Time Monitoring System for Traction Force during Cable Laying Process

To address the challenges of real-time traction force monitoring, complex wiring, and unstable communication during high-voltage cable laying, a real-time traction force monitoring system based on OFDM modulation and cable conductor carrier injection was developed. A dual-arm differential strain full-bridge sensor was employed to measure the traction force, which was then encoded and transmitted to the carrier communication module. Using OFDM modulation technology, the data signal was modulated onto a high-frequency carrier and injected into the cable conductor. The receiving unit captured the carrier signal radiated by the cable, demodulated and recovered the data, and transmitted it via RS485 to the host computer for display and early warning. The system features a compact structure, flexible deployment, and strong antiinterference capability. Field tests in real cable-laying scenarios have validated that the system achieves interference-free, longdistance, real-time, and wireless transmission of traction force data, thereby meeting the practical requirements for engineering deployment and on-site installation.
