Design and Analysis of Microstrip Patch Array Antenna with Monopulse Feed for C-Band Radar Applications

A simple monopulse feed with microstrip array antenna for C -band radar applications is presented in this paper, and measured results are compared with simulations. The monopulse behavior is achieved by using a hybrid coupler and phase shifter in the feeding network, and an inset feed patch antenna is used as a radiating element. The simulated results of the proposed monopulse antenna return loss is better than 10 dB at desired frequency 5 GHz and same is achieved with measured return loss. The simulated gain is 7 dB and Null depth is better than 20 dB are obtained. The proposed antenna configuration will be modeled and simulated in Ansys HFSS 3D Electromagnetic Software. The proposed monopulse antenna gives a good sum and difference pattern will be suitable for Monopulse radar applications.
