Scalable and Secure Sharing of Personal Health Records in Fog Cloud Computing Using Attributed

A PHR (Personal Health Record) is described as a digital system aimed at storing and managing the health information by patients. To make this easier, many opt for storing their PHRs with third-party providers like cloud services. This, however, raises serious privacy concerns, for sensitive medical data can be potentially made available to unauthorized users. One of the possible ways to protect this information is through the encryption of PHRs before storage into the cloud. Encryption provides increased security, but it brings with it extra challenges related to access key management in order for authorized users to easily produce data and to revoke access whenever needed. This will be a potential pitfall for the workings of a secure, efficient system. Studies have presented various encrypted solutions, and results have shown that these solutions in fact provide enhancements to security, scalability, and efficiency in terms of PHR management while allowing significant control in the hands of patients with respect to their health data. With the Health Sector being fast digitized, secure, and efficient sharing of Personal Health Records with extension in their application for applications-related tasks, will now be a severe challenge. Cloud computing offers solutions at par with modern scalability for storages of data, but data privacy, latency, and security have not been issues for which a solution has been in existence thus far. Fog computing that extends cloud capabilities to the very edge of the network is quite beneficial, in that it brings down the latency and offers localized data processing. However, it goes without saying that maintaining secure yet scalable access control in such a distributed architecture remains a bit of a challenge.
