Slotted Circular Patch Antenna for 24-28 GHz Band

With the advancement of modern technology, there is a growing need for faster data transmission, and fifthgeneration (5 G) wireless networks operating at millimeter-wave frequencies have emerged as a viable solution. The 5 G spectrum includes both Sub-6 GHz and millimeter-wave frequency bands. A slotted circular patch antenna with a modified partial ground structure is presented in this paper at the mm-wave frequencies of 24 GHz to 28 GHz. The proposed antenna of dimensions $4.6 \text{mm} \times 4.6 \text{mm} \times 1.6 \text{mm}$ is implemented on the FR-4 substrate. The antenna parameters are optimized such that the antenna bandwidth is from 24.88 GHz to 26.92 GHz. A peak gain of 5.45 dBi with more than 80% radiation efficiency is obtained in the operating band. The simulated antenna parameters are very much within the acceptable limits suitable for practical applications.
