Power Coordination Control Strategy for Hydro-Wind-Solar-Storage Microgrid System

To enhance the stability of power systems with high penetration of renewable energy and improve the renewable energy accommodation capacity, pumped storage and battery storage are emerging as one of the key components in power networks. This is attributed to their dual operational modes (energy storage and power generation) as well as advantages such as the rapid start-stop capability and operational flexibility. Based on this, this paper proposes the power coordination control strategy for the hydro-wind-solar-storage microgrid system incorporating pumped storage and battery storage aiming to mitigate power fluctuations caused by the uncertainty of wind power output. Firstly, the mathematical models of the integrated hydro-wind-solar-storage microgrid are established. Then, the power generation characteristics of each subsystem are introduced, and the corresponding controllers for each subsystem are designed to achieve coordinated power control of the entire system. Finally, the simulation model of the hybrid microgrid system is developed in Matlab/Simulink, and the proposed power coordination control strategy is validated under different operational scenarios. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed control strategy not only effectively mitigates the power fluctuations of wind power output, ensuring stable operation of the AC microgrid system, but also enables smooth transitions between different operational scenarios, thereby validating the effectiveness and correctness of the proposed control strategy.
