Design and Development of Haptic Gloves and Temperature Feedback Module for Apple Vision Pro

This paper presents the design and development of wearable haptic gloves and a temperature feedback module that can be coupled to an Apple Vision Pro headset to enhance the immersive experience in an Augmented Reality (AR) environment. The wearable haptic gloves integrate fine-grained tactile feedback using P20 Braille cells and different vibration motors with variable intensity and frequency. A temperature feedback module using ThermoElectric Generator (TEG) that can be digitally controlled to become hot or cold was also developed to provide users with a more immersive and interactive experience in a virtual environment. Key components of the system include a modular glove design, an external IoT temperature feedback module, and wireless communication via Wi-Fi and UDP to enable real-time interactions. The glove system utilizes computer vision-based hand tracking through the Apple Vision Pro, allowing for accurate movement tracking, provided the background offers sufficient contrast. The implementation of the wearable haptic system focuses on enhancing the user experience by simulating realistic interactions with digital objects in the AR environment. Each glove is designed with flexibility, allowing for easy integration and upgrades of its components, such as vibration motors and a temperature feedback module.
