Secondary Dynamic Compensation of Virtual Inertia in Microgrid Based on Improved VSG Control Architecture

Based on virtual rotor asynchronous motion logic, the research on virtual synchronous generator (VSG) has reached a relatively mature stage. Currently, VSG technology has been extensively implemented in renewable energy generation systems, where its distinctive control strategy ensures stable energy output from generation units. However, the secure and stable operation of these units still requires current regulation support, remaining dependent on virtual control and direct operational modes. Therefore, VSG adaptive control research should prioritize considerations of inertial response characteristics and disturbance suppression capabilities. We propose a secondary dynamic compensation control scheme for virtual inertia, featuring an enhanced architecture that integrates the evolution of virtual inertia with transfer function-based operational command control. A comprehensive analysis is conducted on VSG performance under FFC dynamic compensation disturbances. Through the Fourier transform-based design of a transceiver command model specifically for VSG operations, characteristic transformations are obtained and utilized to evaluate output performance under frequency disturbances. The simulation model test shows that the improved strategy can effectively control the ±0.03 level in the frequency range and keep the response speed within 0. 05ms after the compensation command is executed compared with the traditional strategy. Further, the effect is obviously better than the traditional method. When the VSG is interfered with, the adaptive control of the FFC execution module can effectively reduce the interference risk through secondary compensation to ensure the stable operation of the microgrid.
