Intelligent lighting system for energy management in residential building

This paper presents a cost-effective, reliable, and interference-free approach to designing and constructing a home automation system for controlling and scheduling electricity usage in a household, aimed at improving energy management. The system is operated via a mobile device using WLAN-based wireless communication. The core of the Home Automation System is an ESP8266 microcontroller, which functions as the central control unit. It features a built-in Wi-Fi module that connects the system to the mobile device, executing instructions received through the user interface, iSmart. Additionally, the system incorporates a DS1307 Real-Time Clock (RTC) to maintain accurate timekeeping, ensuring precise future scheduling.
