Finite Element Analysis of torque in Halbach Array-Base Radial Meshing Nutating Magnetic Gear

To improve the torque of nutating magnetic gear, a Halbach array-base radial meshing nutating magnetic gear (HRNMG) is proposed. On this basis, the characteristics of the nutating gear, such as its simple structure and high transmission ratio. It demonstrates that the Halbach array’s flux-focusing effect can substantially enhance magnetic flux density. The magnetic field properties of the HRNMG were analyzed using the finite element method, and its magnetic field distribution was investigated. The effects of the slip angle, nutating angle, and permanent magnet dimensions on the gear torque were studied. Under the constraints of structural dimensions, nutating angle and length have the most significant effect on torque. The results can provide a reference for parameter analysis and optimization of nutating magnetic gears.
