Risk assessment of grid operation with wind power access under typhoon conditions

With the large-scale integration of wind power into the grid, its random volatility poses a great challenge to the safe operation of the power system, and the typhoon further exacerbates the risk of wind power integration into the grid. In this paper, we propose a risk assessment method for grid operation under typhoon conditions with wind power access. Firstly, we construct a spatio-temporal wind speed set driven by the typhoon path; establish a two-factor wind turbine time-varying failure model taking into account the strong wind mechanical stress and lightning impact, and generate a modified output scenario; and quantify the system risk through probabilistic tidal current and Monte Carlo simulation. 33-node simulation of the IEEE demonstrates that this method effectively characterizes the coupling effect of the fluctuation of the wind power output and the failure during the transit of the typhoon, and provides a theoretical basis for the safety defense of new energy systems.
