Sensorless Rotating Restart Method of Dual Three-Phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors

This paper investigates a sensorless rotating restart method for dual three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motors (DTP-PMSM). Rotor position during coasting is estimated using a short-circuit current vector approach. After restarting, a sliding mode observer (SMO) is used to enable sensorless control. Firstly, the motor’s operating principle and mathematical model are analyzed based on vector space decomposition (VSD). Then, a sensorless control strategy and rotating restart method are presented. Simulation results verify that the proposed approach accurately estimates rotor position and ensures smooth rotating restart.
