A Study on the Effect of Coaching Leadership and Psychological Empowerment on Job Performance

This study attempted to investigate the effect of each sub-variable of coaching leadership and Psychological Empowerment of employees on their job performance. This survey was conducted on leaders and members working at the Korean corporations across the country. In this study, the SEM model was utilized using SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 22.0. The result of this empirical analysis as follow. First, it was found that Direction and Relationship variables of Coaching Leadership showed significant positive effect on Psychological Empowerment. Psychological Empowerment had a significant positive effect on job performance. Second, in verifying the mediating effect through bootstrapping method, there was a significant positive effect between only Direction and Relationship of Coaching Leadership through Psychological Empowerment and job performance. This study aimed to present the necessity and importance of Coaching Leadership as a facilitating leadership strategy in this rapidly changing environment of technological advancement. This study is meaningful to confirm the causal relationship from the two perspectives of Coaching Leadership by sub-variables and Psychological Empowerment as psychological and emotional mechanisms which is very important as a motivational factor. Finally, this study is expected to have a positive influence on employees’ job performance.
