Predicting Worst-Case Common-Mode Behavior at AC Points of Common Coupling

It is increasingly important to model the high-frequency common- and differential-mode behaviors of power systems in ships. Although important, it often remains a challenge to do so, particularly for system integrators that may not have knowledge of parasitic paths and parameters. The research presented leverages a Thévenin equivalent circuit and reference frame transformation to establish reliable models of commonand differential-mode behavior from a characterization at their AC terminals. The approach is then extended to multi-converter systems wherein a means to predict worst-case behavior is introduced. The circuits, characterization procedure, and worst-case analysis are validated using the results of time-domain simulations.
