The UAV Intelligent Inspection Technology in the Transformer Substation Inspection

There are some problems in the traditional substation inspection such as inspection blind area, low intelligence level, low efficiency and high cost. The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is widely used in the substation inspection due to its advantages of high reliability, fixed point hovering, low cost and strong mobility. The scheme of the substation UAV inspection is proposed and developed in this paper. By using 3D modeling, route planning and image recognition, the autonomous patrol of the UAV according to the route is realized. The temperature anomaly of the equipment, intelligently identify the meter reading, and timely discover the defects of the equipment can be also automatically determined. The efficiency of the substation inspection efficiency can be improved. The substation intelligent, lean operation and maintenance needs can be achieved.
