Fault Simulation and Analysis of Marine Methanol-Diesel Dual-Fuel Engines

During the actual navigation process, ships are invariably subjected to adverse and uncertain operating conditions for extended periods. The engine, serving as the central power unit of the entire vessel, holds the potential to pose significant threats to both human life and property safety if the possible malfunctions are not accurately characterized. In this paper, a modeling and simulation of the dual-fuel engine system is carried out based on the actual bench test data of dual-fuel engines. The discrepancies between the simulation model data and the bench test data are meticulously compared, and a multidimensional analysis of the engine system is performed by integrating characteristic parameters and structural attributes. The subsystems of the engine are disassembled to identify and isolate the typical fault types within each system during the actual operation. Utilizing the calibrated engine simulation model, the operational behavior of the engine under various typical fault scenarios is simulated by adjusting fault parameters, and the engine's operating state under faulty conditions is analyzed. This analysis serves as a fundamental basis for formulating subsequent engine maintenance and fault diagnosis strategies.
