Design and Analysis of a Two-Degree-of-Freedom Voice Coil Motor with Opposite Magnetization

In response to the demand for motors with simple structure, small size, and multi-dimensional motion capabilities for the end effector of multi-dimensional complex motion platforms, a two-degree-of-freedom voice coil motor with opposite magnetization is designed. This paper first introduces the basic structure of the motor, including the mover and stator components. The mathematical model of the motor is established using the equivalent magnetic charge method and the mirror method, and the motor’s performance is analyzed. The effectiveness of the design is verified through finite element simulation analysis. The simulation results show that the designed motor, while increasing the stroke, effectively improves the fluctuations of linear thrust and swing torque, notably with ripple rates of only $0.39 \%$ and $0.6 \%$, respectively. Furthermore, the motor’s operating stroke can be extended to 34 mm, meeting the power source requirements of the end effector for multi-dimensional complex motion platforms. This study provides a theoretical foundation for further optimization and application of such motors.
