The Influence of Stator Structure on Short-Circuit Current Suppression Performance in Five-Phase Fault-Tolerant Motor

The winding short-circuit faults are among the most common and severe types of motor failures, directly affecting motor reliability. This study aims to analyze the key factors influencing the magnitude of short-circuit current in electric motors. Firstly, different types of winding short-circuit faults, including end-turn short circuits and inter-turn short circuits, are explored. Secondly, various factors affecting the short-circuit current, such as stator structure, motor speed, the number and position of shorted turns, and conductor resistance, are investigated. Through simulation analysis under different fault conditions, the critical factors influencing the short-circuit current are identified. This study provides valuable support for motor design and fault diagnosis, offering insights into enhancing the capability to mitigate short-circuit currents in future motor systems.
