Efficient Torque Distribution Method for Dual-stator Motor based on Sequential Quadratic Programming

Due to the distinctive dual-stator configuration and control flexibility, the dual-stator motor (DSM) exhibits significant advantages in high-efficiency and high-torque-density applications. However, conventional torque distribution strategies for DSMs often rely on static efficiency maps or proportional allocation methods, which lack adaptability to dynamic operating conditions. To address this limitation, we develop loss models for both outer and inner stator windings and subsequently construct their semi-analytical efficiency models. The model parameters are calibrated through experimental efficiency data, thereby improving modeling accuracy. Based on this foundation, the total efficiency model of the DSM is established. The core advantage lies in the implementation of a sequential quadratic programming optimization framework that maximizes overall efficiency in real-time while strictly adhering to the current constraints of dual stator windings, ultimately generating optimal torque distribution coefficients. Experimental validation shows its superiority and appeal in reducing energy consumption.
