Modeling and Analysis of Oil Film Morphology of Valve Plate Pair in Axial Piston Pump using Motor Algebra

The oil film morphology of the valve plate pair plays a critical role in determining the lubrication characteristics and operational efficiency of axial piston pumps. In this article, the analytical modeling of the oil film morphology for the valve plate pair in an axial piston pump is thoroughly investigated. By employing the motor algebra method, an oil film morphology equation is established to account for the cylinder’s inclination and eccentricity relative to the valve plate, effectively capturing their positional relationship. To validate the accuracy and reliability of the proposed motor algebra based equation, multiple numerical simulations are conducted and the results demonstrate that the proposed motor algebra-based oil film morphology equation can effectively capture the shape of the oil film and accurately represent the relative position of the cylinder in relation to the valve plate. This article provides a solid foundation for further studies on the lubrication and friction characteristics of valve plate pairs, contributing to the optimization of axial piston pump performance.
