Computer-aided shape rectification system for calf prosthetic socket

The shape rectification of calf prosthetic socket is crucial for restoring limb function and improving the quality of life of amputees. However, current techniques are heavily reliant on the experience of technicians, resulting in low fitting accuracy and multiple reshaping iterations. This study introduces a shape rectification system for calf prosthetic socket based on computer-aided design and sensor technology. The proposed system features a regionalized flexible air bag socket capable of effectively supporting the weight of a 60 kg adult. The force sensor exhibits a sensitivity of 125.34 mV/N within the range of 0-10 N, with a dynamic detection accuracy of 1 N. The displacement sensor has a precision of 0.5 mm within the range of 0-10 mm and a dynamic accuracy of 1 mm. System application test demonstrates that, under a load of 25 kg and a pressure of 40 kPa, the displacement in the patellar tendon area was 8.7 mm, while the displacement in other areas was approximately 3 mm. These results are consistent with the data from the Hubei Rehabilitation Assistive Technology Center. This study provides a reliable shape rectification solution for amputees.
