Comparative Study on DC Circuit Breaker Configuration Schemes of Flexible HVDC Systems Based on Reliability Indices

Flexible HVDC systems play a pivotal role in large-scale renewable energy integration, serving as a critical infrastructure for modern power grids. The reliability of these systems heavily depends on the optimal configuration of DC circuit breakers, which are essential for fault isolation and system protection. This paper presents a novel multi-objective optimization approach for DC circuit breaker configuration in flexible HVDC grids. First, key reliability indices of flexible HVDC systems are quantitatively evaluated under various configuration schemes. Then, the Pareto frontier method is employed to identify configuration schemes with superior performance. Finally, a study case is presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
