Goos-Gambit: An Educational Card Game

Research presented in this paper aims to address the challenge of teaching computer programming to young learners by creating an interactive and accessible learning tool. Game-based learning pedagogy for programming courses is used to develop a card game named Goos-Gambit that introduces young children and students with special needs to computer programming concepts in a fun and engaging manner. The game's design incorporates fundamental computer programming principles such as sequencing, loops, and conditionals, making it suitable for beginners. Through user testing and feedback, the game's effectiveness in teaching computer programming concepts was evaluated, highlighting its potential to enhance computer programming education for students. The game received great feedback from teachers and students alike about its effectiveness. The research also underscores the versatility of Goos-Gambit in adapting to diverse learning environments, promoting inclusivity and accessibility. This approach paves the way for innovative methodologies in STEM education, fostering early interest in technology fields.
