STEAM is NEW STEM: Integrating Digital Humanities with Engineering Education- Case Study from India

This work-in-progress paper discusses the integration of humanities in engineering curricula, focusing on how engineering students are taught humanities theories alongside technical skills such as data visualization, Python programming, and software applications but using the humanist lens. This is called Digital Humanities. Digital humanities (DH) was called Humanities computing. This approach uses digital material/ digital tools. Digital representations of data but with a humanities perspective. The paper argues that this interdisciplinary approach enriches the educational experience by fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a deeper understanding of societal contexts. The paper also highlights how integrating STEM and humanities prepares students for multifaceted challenges in modern industries.
